I’ve been working in a corporate environment for over 25 years. If I only knew then what I know now…You might have heard that expression before. Maybe even said it to yourself once or twice.
Navigating the corporate world is tough. Few will tell you what path to tread. Probably because they don’t know or aren’t interested in telling you. Those who do tell you are likely to be biased. Don’t blame them. We are all prone to bias.
I’ve experienced highs and lows at work. And it’s the lows that have helped me the most. Which brings me to why I’m launching this Substack.
I love helping people. I see opportunities to help people in a corporate environment (not talking about the technical, rather the practical soft skill stuff). But I step back. Why? Because giving advice to those who haven’t asked for it is a lose-lose proposition. That’s the danger with unsolicited advice. At best I’ve wasted my time as the other person is not interested. At worst I’ll come across as a know-it-all.
So I’ve decided to share my thoughts/experiences here. For whoever wants to read it. Maybe it will help someone working in a corporation who’s facing a similar situation. Or someone who finds his/her self at a career dead end. Maybe I will unravel a mystery about why one of you can’t seem to catch a break. If I was to give this site a tagline it would be:
How to survive and succeed in the corporate jungle
Welcome to my Substack and thank you for reading my first post.
